Cum Laude

FEI winner, sire of exceptional movers with wonderful character
Cum Laude (Apache, Preferent x Weltmeyer x Rubinstein I) continues to strengthen his reputation as a modern sport stallion whose blend of expressive gaits, elasticity, and excellent character has positioned him as an influential sire for today’s dressage market. The elegant black KWPN stallion began his career with notable success, including a fifth-place finish in the Pavo Cup as a six-year-old, before progressing through the levels with wins at ZZ-Zwaar and Prix St. Georges. His international debut came with a victory in the CDI1* Prix St. Georges at the World Championships for Young Horses, scoring 71.618%, followed by advancement to the CDI3* level the following season.

Cum Laude’s appeal extends well beyond his performance record. For 2025, Cum Laude ranked third in the nation for the USEF’s Leading Dressage Breeding sires. At this year’s Dressage at Devon, Cum Laude won the Get of Sire class for the third year in a row. He is widely admired for his friendly and confident temperament, an attribute repeatedly praised by riders and judges. His generosity of character is proving to be a hallmark of his offspring. Riders consistently note the willingness, intelligence, and work ethic that Cum Laude’s progeny display as they begin their training careers.

Recent years have brought growing recognition for the quality of his offspring on both sides of the Atlantic. In the Netherlands, Phatilinda Taonga, Star/Prov. Keur (Cum Laude x All At Once) captured attention with a remarkable 95 for her trot at the KWPN Central Keuring and went on to place fifth in the National Mare Championships in Ermelo. Several mares by Cum Laude—such as Kynona (x Ampere) and Kalista (x Jazz)—have achieved Elite status and strong IBOP results. Kynona would go on to achieve success under a junior rider at the ZZ level, earning her Sport predicate. Sons like Please Me (x Glamourdale) and No Worries SL (x Painted Black I) were selected for the Second Ring of the KWPN Stallion Show. Navara W (x Farrington) is successfully competing at the Small Tour level in international competition.

Cum Laude’s North American foal crops have been equally well received, producing numerous First Premium foals who display the balance, elasticity, and temperament breeders appreciate. Rosa Cum Laude RTH (Cum Laude x Sir Donnerhall) earned distinction as the USDF Breeders Championship Western Series Foal Champion with an impressive 82.412%, setting an early benchmark for the stallion’s developing influence. As his oldest offspring come under saddle, their early success in mare testing, keurings, and young horse divisions has generated significant enthusiasm among breeders.

With his proven performance credentials, exceptional pedigree anchored by Apache, Preferent, and the influential sires Weltmeyer and Rubinstein I, and a growing list of successful progeny, Cum Laude continues to offer breeders a compelling combination of type, quality, and rideability. As his foal crops develop, his influence within the KWPN and beyond is becoming increasingly evident, marking him as a stallion poised to play an important role in the next generation of dressage horses. He is approved for KWPN, Oldenburg, and Hanoverian.
